Weather Forecast

The ERCOT Weather Forecast is developed by ERCOT Meteorologists Chris Coleman, Mia Schroller, and Brandon Gale. The interactive map displays today’s temperature information for major cities located within the ERCOT grid. Hover over a city to see the most recent temperature forecast.

Note: A Weather Zone is a geographic region designated by ERCOT in which climatological characteristics are similar for all areas within such region. This map displays the various Weather Zones that exist within the ERCOT footprint, but it does not necessarily include all counties that have participation within the ERCOT market.

General Discussion:
Near-normal to above-normal temperatures are forecast Thursday as highs climb into the 90s and low 100s. System temperatures should trend a degree or two lower than earlier in the week as added cloud cover and slightly better rain chances return to the southern half of the state. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will take shape across the Coastal zone in particular by late morning, becoming more isolated across South Central and South Texas into this afternoon.

Similar system temperatures are expected into the upcoming weekend, though rain chances will trend lower. Forecast guidance continues to suggest a subtle pattern change early next week, but confidence is decreasing in notable temperature impacts to areas along and east of I-35, including the major cities. Still, expect rain chances and slightly lower temperatures to return to West Texas and the Panhandle during this time frame as a weak cold front moves into Northwest Texas.

Today:
Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. More cloud cover across the Coastal zone, where scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected. Highest rain chances are forecast for the Houston, Corpus Christi, and Valley areas today, followed by isolated chances for San Antonio and Austin. Highs in the 90s and low 100s.

Tomorrow:
Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible, mainly across South Texas. Lows in the 70s and 80s followed by highs in the 90s.
